I’m always a bit envious of my cheery whisky-drinkin’ friends over in Scotland. It seems like there’s always a Scotch event, festival or rare distillery tasting popping up on the radar. So, when an interesting whisky event makes its way to Boston, and throughout the US, I take notice. The latest one on the horizon, The 18th Annual Single Malt & Scotch Whisky Extravaganza, gears up in October, starting in Chicago and winding its way down to Florida in early December. The Scotch Malt Whisky Society, along with Robb Report is behind the event.
Can’t say I’ve ever attended a Scotch Malt Whisky Society event before, so I don’t have any insights on this particular tour, but I like the sound of it. And, I’m excited to check it out. With over 110 whiskies, dinner, cigars and a pre-event interactive panel/Q&A, its got all the right parts to make a great whisky experience (I’m not so sure about the no jeans dress code thing, but I guess I can make an excuse for a fun night of tasting).
Below is a list of the tour stops. The folks producing the event have also been kind enough to offer Drink Insider readers a discount to the event. You can use the code “DI2011” if you decide to buy tickets.
Chicago – October 5
Boston – October 13

If you go, let me know what you think. And if you happen to make it to the Boston event, hit me up on twitter @drinkinsider and let’s meet up for a dram.
Cheers.
